New Jersey

Description

Three bridges connect New Jersey with Staten Island, and the mighty George Washington connects Fort Lee, N.J. with Manhattan, but many other bridges in the state are important in terms of their engineering, their history, or simply because of how much they are used. Notable bridges that feed into New York City include the Newark Bay Bridge, the Wittpenn Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge, the Goethals Bridge, the Outerbridge, and the Newark Swing Bridges (a series of movable bridges along the Passaic River in downtown Newark). The Delaware, Raritan, and Passaic Rivers are important New Jersey waterways, with major roads like Route 80, the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and Interstate 295 crossing them.
